This small two bedroom home was designed for a husband and wife who lived on Lake Maquarie, two hours north of Sydney. The house was created around two key ideas; a courtyard which captured the northern light at the rear of the site, and a viewing aperture which captured the outlook over the lake.

The resulting section provides a full length living space on the ground floor, which spills out into the courtyard and towards the lake. The bedrooms are positioned above, allowing them to feel private and protected.
