Transforming Layout and Functionality

The existing office had an outdated layout with lots of small, inflexible spaces and poor circulation. Dark grey carpets, unprofessional low lighting, and a clashing colour palette contributed to a gloomy and cramped environment. To address these challenges, Lockhart-Krause reimagined the spatial layout to create a lighter, more open feel. Two new private offices were added side by side, each with improved storage and lighting. Clear glass walls were introduced to maximise natural light, while a soundproof wall between the offices ensures privacy.

A new meeting room was created, featuring frosted glass walls that strike a balance between light access and visual privacy. This ensures a professional setting for discussions while maintaining the bright, open atmosphere throughout the office. Five new open-plan desks, along with new standing desks in the main workspace and updated desks in the private offices, provide greater flexibility and functionality.

Upgraded Break Room and Joinery Solutions

The kitchen and break room were redesigned with new vinyl floor planks and extended joinery, creating a fresh and modern space for staff to gather and recharge. Existing cupboards were repainted to match the new lighter and more professional colour palette. In the private offices, custom joinery was added to maximise storage and support day-to-day needs.

Enhancing Light and Visual Identity

Lighting was a crucial focus of the project. The use of glass throughout the design improves the limited light in the existing building. White-painted walls further enhance the brightness, while new downlights bring a modern, professional touch to the workspace. A new logo in the entrance foyer — extruded lettering with integrated LED lighting — adds a dynamic visual statement that reinforces the client’s identity.

A Brighter, More Professional Environment

Overall, Lockhart-Krause Architects’ approach transformed the once dark and outdated office into a light, bright, and modern workspace. Subtle detailing, such as textured walls and black skirting, elevates the overall look to a cleaner and more professional standard. The new colour palette throughout the office is lighter and more refined, replacing the dark, clashing tones of the previous fitout. By improving light access, circulation, and functional storage, the project delivers a space that looks polished and works better for the team.
