Architecture that Follows the Curve of the Land

The form of the Orange Shopping Centre is driven by its context – both natural and urban. Located adjacent to a lakeside estate, the project adopts a rivered arc in its plan, allowing it to nestle into the natural landscape as though it has always belonged there. This semi-circular configuration gives the centre a sense of flow and openness, guiding pedestrian movement and creating visual cohesion across tenancies. As a shopping centre design, the curved layout is both practical and symbolic – embracing the surrounding environment and community it serves.

Striking Simplicity in Form and Structure<

The project is defined by bold, refined gestures. Clean geometries, pared-back materiality and expressive roof planes lend the centre visual strength. These elements are carefully composed to break down the building’s visual mass while offering moments of architectural interest at key entry points. The result is a centre that feels functional, yet memorable.

Supporting Community and Encouraging Growth

Beyond its built form, the Orange Shopping Centre fosters the growth of the community surrounding it. As one of the first commercial anchors within the adjacent residential complex, the centre enhances residents’ local amenities, reduces travel requirements, and imbues the neighbourhood with a sense of place. It is designed not only for immediate functionality but with a long-term view in mind: encouraging further investment and development in the broader Orange region.

A Model for Regional Commercial Architecture

The Orange Shopping Centre responds to the unique requirements of regional developments. It demonstrates the impact that well-considered design can have in both urbanising and strengthening community identity, while enhancing land value and everyday amenity.
